Residency opportunities will be open to visual artists, with priority given to those whose work inhabits the intersections between disciplines — including photography, drawing, sculpture, installation, performance, sound art and more.
Of the selected artists, at least half will be emerging artists under the age of 30, creating a more equitable distribution of resources and offering these young artists mentorship and connections with more established peers throughout the project. Half of the selected artists will be from the Alentejo, or will have a sustained connection to this territory.
Between 2026 and 2027, our project will support 6–10 artistic residencies at Quinta da Cinzeira, which has, right beside the montado, a studio / house available to host artists.
The selected artists will:
- Develop studies or a project as an artistic response to our vision for Sintropias.
- Receive artistic and ecological mentorship.
- Share their artistic practice with residents and visitors of Évora.
- Show their work in a group exhibition in 2027 and 2028.
Artists in residence will have the opportunity to engage with and learn from the Montado and the syntropic agriculture project at Quinta da Cinzeira.
Residencies will be 2 to 4 weeks long and will provide travel, accommodation, fees and mentorship to artists selected by our advisory board.
